A penny for your thought.

I'm sitting at Borders doing some homework. It's the Labor Day Holiday and there are quite a few people here this morning enjoying some morning coffee, breakfast, socializing, and homework.

Whenever I find myself amongst a diverse group of people living daily life I always wonder at what point/walk of life they are in.

Take for instance-
The woman at the long table: She has to be in her 40s. She was sitting with a man, we can assume to be her friend or boyfriend. She has no ring. Her attire consists of platform stilletos, bootcut jeans, a bebe shirt, a floppy hat.. her hair is rather styled in a modern way for her age. What caught my ear was the conversation she had on the phone with someone.. telling that person excitedly that she bought a black bra yesterday. I wonder.

Take two-
This man walks carefully with coffee and a small white box in hand. We can assume that he's the vagabond type (p.c.). He slowly pulls out the chair and sets his coffee down. He takes a sip then proceeds to open the white box. If you could imagine the look of someone who hasn't eaten well in a while, that is the look on his face as he stares graciously into the box. He takes out the bagel, cream cheese, and prepares his meal directly on the wooden table. He eats slowly, savoring every last morsel. I could be quite stereotypical and help but wonder if he's homeless. He's not shaven, very tan for a caucasian, and wearing ragged tattered clothing. He dropped his bagel cream side down on the table and proceeds to curse himself for the waste and mess that he created. A few morsels, a few calories that would definitely have satiated his hunger a few more hours. He looks like this is the longest he's been able to relax in a while. Who knows what the rest of the day will bring him..

Ironically-
We have another man sitting merely a table away indulging in the same bagel and coffee meal. This man is mid 50s, bald, and enjoying a magazine. Same meal.. two different appreciations.

Just a thought to ponder as you enjoy this Labor Day. For many down on their luck, a bagel and a job would mean the world. For others who may hate what they do day to day, appreciate your talents, skills, and blessings.
